Users of ING’s withdrawal tool Twyp have been having trouble using the app for a week. so they have Dozens of users showed On social networks asking Twyp to make a statement for days.

They have confirmed they have detected an incident from Twyp since last week and they are “working to solve this first”. Meanwhile, the app displays the same message to users and does not allow transactions such as cash withdrawals at any of the 30,000 locations in Spain, including El Corte Inglés or the Dia group’s supermarkets.

Problems with TWYP

Unlike the Netherlands, where ING decided to close the tool, the use of Twyp is quite common in Spain. Earlier in the year, ING announced It will expand its Cashback service to all its users with a Payroll Account. In other words, the cash withdrawal option will not be only through Twyp.

While most banks have shut down ATMs and offices, these cashback systems have gained a lot of attention in Spain, allowing you to withdraw money from supermarkets as if they were ATMs.

In April 2022, ING announced that its cashback service had become a market standard through TOPII fintech. This change will allow to increase the number of places to withdraw money, including gas stations, tobacconists and other types of shops.

It is unknown whether the current issues with Twyp are related to this system change. ING Spain’s Xataka told Xataka “we did indeed have a specific technical incident in our Twyp app that affected a small number of IO users. We are restoring the service and we are trying to fix the .users will be able to work normally throughout today”.
