Keeping in touch is very important and online communication has almost replaced phone calls. How to find out if your provider will provide Internet during outages – read on 24 channels. We have prepared detailed instructions on how to check if your internet is ready for an outage.

This can be done thanks to the map of providers prepared by the Ministry of Digital and LUN. On the interactive map of Internet providers, you can check whether the home Internet is ready for outages and long outages.

How to use a card from the Ministry of Digital:

  • Go to the site.
  • Use geolocation to quickly navigate home. Alternatively, use the mouse wheel or the “plus” and “minus” buttons to move the map around until you find your neighborhood and therefore your home. Or if you’re on the phone, extend the card with your fingers. You cannot enter an address in the search field because there is no such field.
  • Click on your home and see which providers are there. If your current device is not among these, it means it is out of service during a power outage. However, you can connect to those on the list.
  • If your home has more than one provider of power outage services, they will all be listed on the map; Just scroll down the list to the end.
  • By default, all filters are selected on the map, so providers offering 4, 8, 12 hour, 24 hour and 72 hour service are shown. If you need a specific time, click “filters” in the bottom left corner.
  • Additionally, by default, the map shows the Internet for consumers and businesses together. If you’re only interested in home internet, uncheck the “Business internet” option.

Details about the connection application and the provider can be seen on the map / Screenshot of Channel 24.

It is very convenient that all the necessary details are instantly indicated on the map:

  • provider contact information;
  • how many hours of Internet work it provides during outages;
  • how much you will have to pay for the connection and what is the price of the monthly subscription fee;
  • what technology the provider uses.

The orange button next to the provider’s name redirects to the service provider’s website. And at the bottom there is a big button “Are you connected to this internet?” By clicking on it, you can give feedback on whether this internet really works without electricity and how many hours it works.

The numbers in the upper right corner indicate how many nearby houses are not shown on the map. If you click on a house with these numbers, the map will automatically zoom in and previously hidden houses will appear.

The brightest color of the Wi-Fi network icon means that the Internet works for 72 hours in case of power outages. The lighter the color, the less likely the Internet works during power outages.

  • xPON is an energy-saving technology that requires tens of times less costs for maintaining Internet networks in case of power outage. It guarantees up to 72 hours of internet.
  • FTTx is the most common Internet access technology that requires power from batteries and generators. The Internet will be 4-8 hours, less often – up to 72 hours.
  • DOCSIS is a technology that transmits the Internet through a television cable. Internet should be 4-8 hours, less often – up to 72 hours.
  • xDSL is a technology that transmits the Internet through telephone wires. For such consumers, the Internet will work for 4-8 hours, less often – up to 24 hours.
