HPE is optimizing its GreenLake offering with hybrid infrastructure in mind and AI in mind.
HPE announces two new solutions within GreenLake during Discover Barcelona: Hybrid Ops software suite And Private cloud solutions for AI. Both labels represent complete solutions in which various GreenLake capacities are combined into a whole.
Private Cloud Solutions for AI is a GreenLake package that closely follows HPE’s announcement at Discover yesterday. Then the manufacturer developed a new hardware solution together with Nvidia, linked to a software stack and aimed at fine-tuning and inference of AI models. Part of this full-stack story then remained vague: HPE also announced file storage improvements, but the connection between the compute stack and data remained vague despite its importance.
Today we get clarity from Fidelma Russo, CTO of HPE. Private Cloud Solutions for AI includes not only the previously discussed stack of ProLiant DL380a servers, Nvidia Spectrum-X, HPE’s Machine Learning Development Environment and Nvidia AI Enterprise and NeMo software, but also other solutions. Specifically, HPE GreenLake for File Storage is included, which Russo uses to connect the compute stack and the improved storage solution.
HPE also includes OpsRamp in the package for the necessary visibility and Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault for backup and recovery. This allows GreenLake customers to purchase a total solution that includes AI computing, storage, protection and management.
The HPE GreenLake Hybrid Ops Software Suite has a similar design but focuses on simplifying the hybrid cloud stack. “We combine the different solutions into one subscription to make your billing easier,” says Russo.
The hybrid cloud subscription includes HPE Ezmeral Unified Analytics, Ezmeral Data Fabrics, GreenLake OpsRalmp, HPE Backup and Disaster Recovery, and the HPE Sustainability Insights Center. With the latter, HPE offers companies visibility into the carbon emissions of their IT activities, including AI and inference training.
