There is no longer any doubt CD Projekt Red wants to close out 2023 with Cyberpunk 2077, which looks better than ever. And yes, I know it would be easy if we started from the original version, the one that hit the market at the end of 2020. However, and as we said recently, the Polish developer sang a mea culpa in the best possible way, that is, working very hard to turn what was originally a disaster into a truly remarkable game bit by bit.

There were several milestones in this development. Although CDPR published several important updates in the first months after its launch, The one that really made a big difference was the one that updated Cyberpunk 2077 to version 1.5. As we already told you, this update marked a farewell to the previous generation of consoles, undoubtedly the biggest mistake in the entire history of the game, so it offers a huge leap in quality.

Since We have seen new technologies added Yes, they make it much more difficult if we want to use them, but they also raise the technical bar to very, very high levels. The most obvious example of this is the Overdrive mode, a nightmare even for the most powerful hardware, but which offers us one of those visual experiences that will leave you speechless.

Another key milestone in the history of Cyberpunk 2077 is much more recent. I mean, of course, the arrival of the 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty DLC. The former brought great improvements to the game, while the latter adds new content that extends the game’s lifespan. Set of both new features (update is free but DLC is paid) add a new level of excellence to a game that is highly recommended today.

Update 2.1 will bring the subway to Cyberpunk 2077

At this point, and knowing that CDPR is already working on its sequel, many of us thought that we were only in for “minor” updates like the recent 2.01. But the good news is, no, it won’t, and that’s it CD Projekt Red has confirmed the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 update 3.1 and that it will add the long-awaited subway system. And we won’t have to wait too long to enjoy it, because according to what we can read on its website, it is scheduled to launch next Tuesday, December 5, for both PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. And yes, the choice of date is not random, as it coincided with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.

There are some notable new features coming to Cyberpunk 2077 with this update, such as Radioport, which will allow us to continue listening to music when we are not in the car, replayable races and more options for V to get closer to the people he meets in Night City. However, as I pointed out in the headline, arguably the most important thing is that Night City will finally have a subway network that will allow us to travel comfortably throughout the city.

Apart from the fact that this feature adds a lot to the gameplay and enjoyment of the title, it is also important because until now it has been one of CD Projekt Red’s unfulfilled promises, a deficiency that, as it happens in many cases, has been replaced by the always remarkable community of modders . It’s never too late when luck is good, the saying goes, and although in this case we’re talking about waiting almost three years from launch, there is every indication that the saying will be fully valid on this occasion.
