Nodong Sinmun newspaper, the print organ of North Korea’s ruling Korean Workers’ Party, reported on Sunday that the intelligence satellite operations management body established at the Pyongyang General Control and Regulation Center under the National Aerospace Engineering Directorate began its duties on Saturday.

It was noted that the information obtained during the mission would be given to “the main units responsible for the country’s military deterrence, as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army.”

As reported, on November 22, North Korea announced: successfully launched a spy satellite into Earth orbit and plans to launch several more such spacecraft in the near future to ensure exploration capabilities.

North Korea’s army satellite took detailed photos of the White House and Pentagon and “Norfolk”, the main US naval base where docked aircraft carriers are located. The country’s authorities also said that any possible interference in the work of the intelligence satellite would be considered a “declaration of war”.

Ukraine, Japan, South Korea, the United States and other Western countries strongly condemned the launch of a North Korean satellite using ballistic technology and called for an end to any actions that threaten peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the world as a whole.
