NGC 2210 is said to be located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), approximately 157,000 light-years away from Earth.
The VMH is the so-called companion galaxy of the Milky Way, meaning that the two galaxies are gravitationally bound to each other.
Globular clusters are very stable and tightly bound clusters consisting of thousands or even millions of stars. This stability means they can exist over a long period of time; hence these star clusters are often studied to search for potentially very old stellar objects in the universe.
A few years ago, astronomers discovered that NGC 2210 itself is likely 11.6 billion years old.
The discoverer of this object is astronomer John Herschel, who first observed it on January 31, 1835.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Hubble space telescope photographed the spiral galaxy NGC 941 located in the Chinese constellation, thanks to its Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) camera.
