NVIDIA will switch to liquid cooling to reduce power consumption

NVIDIA has announced that it plans to reduce the power consumption of its data centers. To do this, the company will begin to equip video cards with liquid cooling.

At Computex, the company introduced a new version of its liquid-cooled A100 computing card. According to NVIDIA, this model consumes 30% less energy than the conventionally cooled version. In the future, the company will release more liquid-cooled server cards.

According to NVIDIA, reducing energy consumption could be important – data centers use more than one percent of the world’s electricity, and 40 percent of that is due to cooling. Reducing this by almost a third would be a major breakthrough. However, it should be understood that video cards are not everything. There is also a CPU, storage and network equipment. In any case, NVIDIA’s steps are commendable.
