Since the new tvOS 17 update, you can use FaceTime on your Apple TV. Now Zoom is following suit with a new app that lets you connect to your iPhone’s camera in a similar way. This makes it easy to watch meetings on a big screen from your couch.
Earlier this year, the tvOS 17 update introduced Continuity Camera, allowing you to use your iPhone or iPad as a webcam for a FaceTime video call on TV. This is now also possible with the new app that Zoom has launched for Apple TV. The app also uses that In the centre-Camera function so the image is always focused on you. Additionally, there are useful features such as the ability to start meetings, invite people, and view chats during a meeting.
Zoom’s new app is available on your Apple TV 4K 2nd generation or later. Additionally, your iPhone must have iOS 17. The app itself is easy to use. Using a link URL on your phone, you can enter the code that appears on your Apple TV. You can then connect your phone the same way you would with FaceTime. Are there multiple accounts on your Apple TV? You will then be shown a list of accounts with nearby devices. Select the account you want, place your iPhone under your Apple TV with the camera facing you, and watch the meeting on the 4K TV screen.
