Meta announced that inter-program communication between Facebook and Instagram has ended as of mid-December.
reported According to Fortune, Ukrinform.
The exact termination date of the function is not specified. Meta also did not give a specific reason for the closure.
According to a recent update on Instagram’s support page, users will no longer be able to start new conversations or searches with their Facebook accounts. You will only be able to continue communicating on Facebook via Messenger using your Facebook account. Existing conversations previously created between Instagram and Facebook will become read-only once the interaction between the applications ends. Accordingly, Instagram users will not be able to send new messages in these chats.
Additionally, existing chats that an Instagram user has with their Facebook account will not be transferred to Facebook Messenger. Instagram activity status will not be automatically displayed through the Facebook account.
This innovation comes nearly three years after Meta introduced Messenger support for Instagram in 2020, allowing cross-platform messaging between Facebook and Instagram.
Meta, Ukrinform reported is starting to offer users the opportunity to sign up for the paid, ad-free version of Facebook and Instagram, available in Europe.
