Last week, NASA announced that the Hubble orbiting observatory had entered safe mode due to problems with one of its gyroscopes. Billionaire Jared Isaacman, who has already flown into space as part of the Inspiration4 mission team aboard Crew Dragon, reacted to the news.
Isaacman suggested sending a special repair team to the Hubble telescope. The billionaire funds the Polaris research program, through which they plan to make at least three human flights into space. The first one is planned for the spring of 2024, and as part of it they want to conduct the first spacewalk. Apparently, Isaacman plans to repair Hubble himself, as he is part of the crew of the Polaris program.
Hubble has been in space since 1990. During this time, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration sent him a number of maintenance missions to help replace faulty components and install more advanced scientific instruments. The last such expedition took place more than 10 years ago.
