Agility Robotics, which is currently developing an Amazon-tested bot called Digit, plans to open RoboFab early next year.
“We have made it a very important priority to deliver the works as soon as possible. Our big plan is to create general-purpose humanoid robots as quickly as possible,” says Damion Shelton, the company’s co-founder and CEO.
It was stated that Agility has produced approximately 100 robots since its founding in 2016 and plans to move Digit production from its headquarters in Tangent, Oregon, to the larger 6,500 square meter RoboFab facility in the coming months.
According to Shelton, production will initially reach hundreds of robots, but later RoboFab in Salem, Oregon, “will have a much larger capacity – peaking at 10,000 robots per year.”
Competitors for Agility Robotics’ Digit include Tesla’s Optimus and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas.
As Ukrinform reports, China’s first Humanoid Robots Innovation Center has been established in Beijing, whose mission is to accelerate the development and industrial production of humanoid robot technologies.
