The NVIDIA RTX 40 dominates the dedicated graphics market, and gamers have a choice of all the variants offered by a large number of manufacturers who develop products with these graphics chips. The options multiply especially in the mid-range (definitely the best in features/prices), which come from the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti models.
Remember that the overclocking capacity of the cards, or what is the same, the increase in frequencies above the basic values \u200b\u200bset by the green giant for each model, largely depends on the cooling design which include each of them. Depending on the design chosen, graphics cards increase in length as well as thickness. Although they only “snap” into the PCIe slot, they occupy the space of several of thempreventing the installation of additional cards there and complicating the cooling of the rest of the components and cable management.
NVIDIA partners have launched designs of all kinds, and while there are special designs for small boards (Mini-ITX) and some low-profile ones, most dedicated graphics are of the type we’re talking about: giant size in length and thickness.
The Chinese integrator GALAX presented a version that deviates from the standard and is actually the first NVIDIA RTX 40 that occupies only one PCI-Express slot. The manufacturer designed it for its ‘RTX 4060 Ti Max 16 GB Unparalleled Max’ card and it can be very interesting for those looking for an exceptionally thin profile of only 20 mm.
It features a cooling system exclusive to the brand, with a vapor chamber combined with a copper heatsink and a fan that differs from typical multi-fan configurations.
The card is configured out of the box to run at a default frequency of 2535 MHz for a target power of 165 watts. The configuration of the voltage regulation module is a 6+2 VRM placed on a six-layer printed circuit board.
Although GALAX assures that overclocking will be possible to practice, its voltage regulator and its dimensions (267 x 111 x 20 mm) suggest that this will need to be done with great care. If you’re one of those looking to upgrade your chart, you’ll have to look for other versions instead. In any case, this type of design is very interesting, novel, because there has not yet been a model in the RTX 40 series that is so thin that it occupies one slot. No price was provided.
