Like last year, China will once again be the first country where OnePlus welcomes the flagship. The OnePlus 12 is an evolution of the OnePlus 11 that was well received. The design remains almost unchanged, as do the specifications. Most things get a small upgrade.
The OnePlus 12 is one of the first devices to have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on board. The screen will be slightly larger (6.8 inches vs. 6.7 inches) and 12 GB of RAM is now available for the base model. The most expensive variant has 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
The screen has a very high peak brightness to see enough in sunlight (4,500 nits versus 1,300 nits). There is LTPO technology to dynamically refresh the screen at up to 120 Hz. It is unknown how low the OnePlus 12 can go in some situations to save battery power.
On the back there is a 50 MP (f/1.6) main camera and a 48 MP (f/2.2) wide-angle camera, which are visually very similar to its predecessor. The most significant upgrade is to the 64MP telephoto zoom (f/2.6), which now supports 3x optical zoom instead of 2x.
The battery capacity increases slightly (5,400 mAh vs. 5,000 mAh) and supports 100 watt fast charging again. What’s new is that OnePlus is once again welcoming fans of wireless charging. The OnePlus 12 can be quickly charged with up to 50 watts via wireless charging.
The device costs the equivalent of 560 euros in China. We firmly believe that this price will be maintained in Europe. OnePlus also reveals very little information about a European launch. The device will come to us in “early 2024” with no price or specific availability announced.
