Nobel Prize laureates presented Pope Francis with the “Declaration of Human Fraternity”

Today, several Nobel laureates presented Pope Francis with “Declaration on the Brotherhood of Man” which 30 of them signed and in which they affirm that “our future can only prosper in a world of peace, justice and equality for the benefit of the only human family.”

The document was presented to the pontiff today at the end of a general audience in the Vatican. Nobel Peace Prize Filipina Maria Ressa and Yemenis Tawakkul PocketExcept Nobel Prize Physical Italian Giorgio Parisi.

This symbolic gesture concluded the first stage document presentation in other regions of the world.

The Nobel Prize laureates attended a meeting in the Vatican organized by the Pontifical Fratelli Tutti Foundation on June 10, 2023, when the Declaration was signed during a ceremony in St. Peter’s Square in which two of them, Nadia Murad and Muhammad Yunus, read the text.

“We are different, we are different, we have different cultures and religions, but We are brothers and we want to live in peace. Every man is my brother, every woman is my sister, always. We want to live together as brothers and sisters in the Garden that is the Earth. The Garden of Brotherhood is a condition of life for everyone,” says the Declaration.

In the document, scientists and human rights activists confirm that “true reconciliation does not avoid conflict but this is achieved in conflict, overcoming it through dialogue and transparent, sincere and patient negotiations.”

Among the signatories is the former president of Colombia. Juan Manuel Santosformer President of Costa Rica Oscar Arias; former leader of the Polish Union Solidarity of Lech Walesaor Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadiamong the others.
