Fast-growing smartphone brand Realme celebrated a major milestone at the recent launch event of its Realme GT5 Pro smartphone. Realme has sold more than 200 million units worldwide in just five years since its launch. This impressive growth trajectory took the company from zero to 100 million units in just three years, and from 100 to 200 million units in the next two years. This achievement is particularly notable given the competitive nature of the smartphone market.

Realme’s success can be attributed to its focused product strategy and rapid market expansion. The brand has optimized its product range by focusing on two flagship series. The GT series is designed to be a “performance champion” for users who prefer high-performance devices. On the other hand, the number series aims to disrupt the mid-range market by offering flagship-level features at competitive prices. This dual-series approach appeals to a wide range of customers, from performance enthusiasts to value-conscious buyers.

In addition to its market strategy, high performance in the Chinese market also played an important role in Realme’s growth. The brand positions itself as the price-quality leader in this market by offering high-quality products at affordable prices. Last month, Xiaomi Redmi announced that they had reached 1 billion sales in 10 years.

Announced at the event, Realme GT5 Pro has a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and offers up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The device also packs a large 5,400mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

For photography, the GT5 Pro includes a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel periscopic telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The 32 MP front camera provides high-quality selfies. The price of Realme GT5 Pro is between 3999 yuan ($563) and 4299 yuan ($605). It will enter the market on December 14, 2023.
