Customization to the highest level. This is the first advantage I will talk about when explaining what the main advantage of Android is. I’ll tell you some tricks I usually use to achieve a goal that (almost) everyone wants in an Android phone: making it run faster.

These tricks are aimed at first time Android users, so they are pretty simple. root or any manipulation that may compromise the operation of our device.

Reduce animations. This is one of Android’s most legendary tricks, but to this day I still encounter users who are not clear on how it works. OS animations are set to their original speed of 1x. It is possible to reduce this time by half, that is, configure it to 0.5x, from the developer settings.

• Access settings and scroll down until you find “Phone information.”
• To call “Build number” and press several times until developer options are enabled.
• Enter the new development menu (usually visible in the “System” options, depending on the phone) and look for three scale settings: Set “Window Animation Scale”, “Transition-Animation Scale” and “Animation duration scale”.
• Enter the menu of each scale and select “0.5x“.

Although it is possible to disable these animations completely, it is not recommended. Without animations, the phone experience would be faster but clunky and annoying.

Change launcher animations. One trick I do as soon as I get a phone that isn’t as well known, but usually has a customization layer, is to change the launcher animations. The system launcher is the application responsible for showing you the desktop and the application drawer (mobile phones with drawers, some have a desktop with only a few pages).

In most cases, we access the launcher options when we press and hold any area on the desktop. Several layers allow you to set animations to “fast” or similar, so check their settings.

Freeze apps I don’t need. The first thing I do before installing a single app on my phone is software software. These are applications that come pre-installed on the mobile phone and are not required for its operation. Facebook, Netflix, games, cloud services from the manufacturer… In some cases they can be removed without further ado, but in others there is no choice but to freeze them.

All you have to do is go to the applications section and leave the ones that are not useful to you as “disabled”. This will not remove them from the system, but it will prevent them from running and updating in the background. This is the easy way to do this, if you want to go further it is possible to delete applications from the system using ADB, but this is a more dangerous and advanced trick.

Change your processor mode. Another method I have used the most lately is to enable a function that manufacturers do not announce much: ensuring that the processor operates at maximum power. It will depend on the customization layer, but it’s easy to find in battery settings like performance mode.

Activating the maximum performance mode will affect our battery, so I recommend configuring it when we will perform tasks such as playing games, browsing many web pages, or when we need maximum performance from the phone.

Do not use a blanket when the weather is hot at home. For several generations, mobile phones have become increasingly easier to heat. Processors are becoming more and more powerful and we cannot always find adequate distribution exercises. During times like summer (we live there almost permanently in the south of Spain), I avoid using covers.

Any kind of case will increase the phone’s temperature by a few degrees; This harms both performance and battery life. I avoid using covers whenever possible and especially at home to keep the temperature down a bit.
