The Mi Band series fitness tracker has finally been updated: the seventh model has received the long-awaited innovations, including an enlarged display, improved SpO2 sensor performance and Always-On Display support – fixed time display even on a locked screen. Like its predecessors, the bracelet comes in NFC-enabled and non-NFC versions, though supported payment services outside of China are currently unknown.

Xiaomi has not disclosed the resolution of the screen, but the known pixel density is 326 pixels per inch. Another innovation lies in the SpO2 sensor circuit for monitoring blood oxygen levels: it has learned to monitor continuously throughout the day and vibrate if blood oxygen saturation drops sharply below 90%.

A novelty for Mi Band 7 is the function to calculate exercise load based on EPOC (excessive post-exercise oxygen consumption) from last week – the bracelet can make recommendations on how much rest you need to achieve certain goals in sports ( muscle building or weight loss).

The manufacturer paid special attention to the AoD function, but did not specify whether it would be possible to configure the dials for this mode or download new ones.

Autonomy is promised at the 14-day level – unclear which scenarios to use and with some functionality enabled (even with or without AoD). The manufacturer also did not forget about the usual dials for the unlocked screen – there are more than 100 new ones.

As usual, the developers have once again updated the sporty features of the gadget: Mi Band 7 supports 120 training modes.

The base model without NFC is priced at 249 yuan or $37. The NFC model will cost 299 yuan or $45.
