WhatsApp opens its API in the cloud to all companies: what can happen next and what can we expect next?

WhatsApp doubles its commitment to the professional client and targets smaller businesses that are key in a business structure like the Spanish business. Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has suggested that its cloud-based API will be made available to any company globally so that new companies, developers and SMBs can take advantage of its services that open doors.

The messaging app currently has a service designed for it. Business Communication, WhatsApp Business, and – among other things – a business platform that allows the creation of an automated response system, bots to facilitate communication between businesses and their customers. Another function is alert messages or reminders.

Problem? Not all companies have access to the WhatsApp Business API in the app. The platform was only available to large or medium-sized businesses. That will change now, or at least that’s what Zuckerberg overlooked.

From months to minutes

Meta makes access time pass for small businesses “from months to minutes”.

“There are already over a billion users connecting to a business account every week through our messaging services. They seek help, find products and services, buy anything. And today I am pleased to announce that we are opening WhatsApp to businesses of all sizes around the world with the WhatsApp Cloud API,” said Zuckeberg. The new cloud-based API also offers free hosting services.

API in practice, companies facilitate communication with your customersstandardize responses, create templates or obtain queries as needed, among other functions.

The company took advantage of the same event to announce its recurring notifications tool for businesses, which aims to make it easier for companies to offer promotional or other types of notifications to customers they’ve contacted before.
