Electronics giant Toshiba and leading chipmaker Rohm say they will jointly produce materials called “power semiconductors” used in electric vehicles.
According to Ukrinform’s report, NHK writes about this.
The two companies plan to jointly produce at a facility Toshiba is building in Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan. Next year Rohm plans to open another factory in the southwestern prefecture of Miyazaki. The collaboration aims to leverage both companies’ experience in creating such chips.
In particular, both companies will focus on investing in the development and expansion of materials called SiC power semiconductors or silicon carbide chips. Such chips are considered very durable and are more energy efficient.
