Between January and October, Hyundai and Kia shipped 945,062 and 867,136 vehicles, respectively, according to the South Korean Automobile Association.
This indicator is 17.5% higher than the same period in 2022.
Considering the monthly shipment of 180,000 units of the two automobile manufacturers, industry officials expect their foreign sales in the whole of 2023 to exceed two million units for the first time since 2016.
“The increase in exports comes as the group expands its domestic production capacity to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles worldwide,” a Hyundai Motor Group spokesman said.
According to the data, the total value of exports reached 43.9 billion dollars in the January-October period, surpassing last year’s total shipment of 41.5 billion dollars. The average price of cars sold rose 68% from $14,000 in 2016 to $24,000.
As Ukrinform reported, in November 2023, 21,700 used cars imported from abroad received Ukrainian license plates, which was a record for almost a year and a half.
