Chance wanted it heard about this Yamaha CD-C603RK just after seeing Salto, which was added to the Prime Video menu as we told you yesterday. I won’t spoil the synopsis of the movie because it just came out on the platform and I don’t want to inadvertently give away to those who haven’t seen it yet but wish to do so. I’ll just stick with the phrase that accompanies its title: “Time travel, child’s play.”
Yes, of course I will mention a detail that we will realize after watching the trailer, namely that part of the plot takes us to the (more or less) recent past, which is fully justified by the plot of the film, but without a doubt also responds to an increasingly persistent appeal to nostalgia. Hindsight is sometimes good, as Karina said in the Chest of Memories, and if it helps make money, then so much the better, as those who take advantage of the opportunity to make money say. On the other hand, something completely legitimate if what is being offered is up to par.
The music ecosystem is particularly fertile in this regard: reissues of classics, the return of vinyl and turntables, LoFi sound… I even ran into a couple of people wearing two Walkmans in the center of Madrid a few weeks ago, and no, I’m not talking about their older versions, newer ones like the Sony Walkman NW-A306, no, I’m talking about the classic models, the ones many of us used in the eighties and nineties.
Last year, a very surprising situation occurred, namely that CD sales increased for the first time since 2004 in a sign of another format that aims to “return”. Of course, this helps us understand something that would otherwise be surprising, and that’s it Yamaha has just introduced the CD-C603RK, a rack-mountable CD changer with a capacity of up to five discs.. Yes, exactly like the ones we could find in the mid and high end sound systems of the nineties.
It is clear that although this CD-C603RK takes us first to the past, the truth is that it is technologically up-to-date. So, It is compatible with CD-R/RW discs and MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC or FLAC fileswhether they are on disk or on a USB stick that we can connect to a port of this type that it contains on its front, to the right of its screen.
Another very interesting aspect of this Yamaha CD-C603RK is the Pure Direct feature, which we already find in other devices of the brand and which allows us to disconnect the digital output and the screen with a single press. This will leave us with only an analog output signal, which will also not feel any interference caused by the operation of the screen.
The Yamaha CD-C603RK charger will only be available in a few regions, namely Europe and Australia, and its price in the old continent will be 599 euros. You can find more information on their website.
