This weekend marked the 30th anniversary of Doom, the launch of the legendary game behind it huge impact on the video game industry. One of its creators and co-founder of Id Software, John Romero, kept his promise to release new Sigil II content to celebrate the anniversary.

What are we going to tell you if you don’t know about Doom. A first-person shooter that practically invented the shooter genre and was a big inspiration for many that came later. Originally released for DOS operating systems, the game has been ported to countless and unexpected platforms and devices. The series continued with new parts, and in 2016, under the auspices of Bethesda Softworks, it received an excellent reboot and continued with the equally good, Eternal.

Doom’s 30th Anniversary Sigil II

John Romero created and released the first Sigil for Doom in 1993 for free as an unofficial fifth episode of the main game. Later, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, it was released by its current owners, Bethesda Softworks, as a free mod for your ports from Doom for consoles and mobile devices. Romero’s development continued where the fourth episode of 1995’s Ultimate Doom left off with 18 new levels. Nine of them are for the single player campaign and the other nine are for the multiplayer deathmatch.

Despite the popularity of its brilliant 2016 reboot and its sequel Eternal, the original Doom still has a massive and dedicated community. from players and modders alike. It is obvious that MegaWAD from the hands of one of its creators (also in the back Hexene, earthquake either wolfenstein) It’s always special. And this is where Sigil II comes into play the unofficial sixth episode of Doom. It has nine single player levels and two exclusive mode levels. A fight to the death.

Doom 30th Anniversary

Romero is selling a digital edition containing both the digital soundtracks from the Thorr and James Paddock level pack, and a physical edition installed on its own shotgun-shaped USB flash drive, along with several other digital and physical extras. Sigil II is available for free like Sigil I. They take up barely three megabytes, but are a Megawad of interest expand content for Doom’s 30th anniversary.
