German auto parts supplier Bosch is planning large-scale layoffs in its powertrain division.

As reported by Ukrinform, this situation was reported by dpa.

A Bosch spokesman said the company was considering cutting up to 1,500 development, management and sales jobs in the division.

The company cited the automotive industry’s transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles as the reason for the outages. According to the press spokesperson, these changes will seriously affect the entire industry in the medium term.

He added that the transition to electric cars requires a high level of initial investment and is accompanied by a reduction in employment requirements.

The report said the layoffs would likely affect Bosch factories in the cities of Feuerbach and Schwieberdingen in southwestern Germany.

The company recalled that Bosch remained committed to an agreement it reached with union representatives last summer, which included the layoff of approximately 80,000 employees in its automotive supply division in Germany by the end of 2027.

As reported by Ukrinform, Spotify announced on December 4 that 17% of employees, or approximately 1.5 thousand people, will be laid off due to the company’s desire to reduce costs.
