Google’s Android 14 continues its beta 2 rollout for the latest quarterly release (QPR2) of the platform. This update is coming sooner than expected, improving stability and fixing various bugs for Pixel and Pixel Fold phones.
Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 Update Released!
Following the QPR1 release in December, the regular QPR2 preview schedule and Pixel Feature Edition are expected to begin this month. But Google surprised everyone by launching the app early, starting with a preview in November and then quickly rolling out patches.
Although technically beta versions, QPRs are considered relatively stable and suitable for daily use. Beta 2 is available for all Pixel 5a – 8 Pro models with build number AP11.231117.006. It also includes the latest December security patch.
Beta 2 includes several fixes! Here’s what’s covered:
- Fixed an issue where battery usage information reported in System Preferences was sometimes incorrect. (Issue #312121998)
- Fixed an issue where the fingerprint icon on the lock screen would sometimes appear in persistent display mode before other information was loaded. (Issue #311265905)
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the biometric prompt to crash and close before the user could interact with it.
- Fixed an issue where the Quick Internet Settings tile would sometimes show that there was no Wi-Fi connection even when the device was connected to a Wi-Fi network.
To download the latest QPR 2 Beta 2 update, go to: “Settings” > “System” > “Software update » and click System Update. If available for your device, the download will start automatically.
