New trailer for Dune: Part 2, the power of the desert in the eyes of Villeneuve

If you love the sci-fi universe created by the writer Frank Herbert and the recreational project on the big screen produced by Warner with director Denis Villeneuve as the main person in the lead, you will surely be waiting for the premiere of Dune: Part 2 on the big screen. sequel to the 2021 film which he liked a lot because of our writing.

Warner Bros has released a new trailer and as expected after the slow introduction of the characters and setting in the first installment, there is action, lots of action. The planet Arrakis has become a full-fledged war zonefeaturing sword battles, massive explosions and the most powerful weapon of all: sand worms.

The new trailer shows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) leading their Fremen allies in the fight against the evil Harkonnen. But is the participation of these outsiders helping the Fremen or just another way to enslave them? Chani (Zendaya) seems to believe the former, although she may not be objective after her budding romance with Paul.

Meanwhile, Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken) plans to assassinate Paul with the help of veteran warrior Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler, bald). Only problem? As Shaddam’s daughter Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) aptly puts it: “He’s psychotic.” But make no mistake, he is a formidable opponent.

But Paul and the forces of Arrakis have something no Harkonnen or Sardaukar army could even dream of: sandworms or what is the same thing, the power of the desert. The latest promotional video shows not one, not two, but three worms riding into battle. Dune: Part 2 will be released in theaters today March 1, 2024.

If you want to delve deeper into this universe and its complex social, political, religious and economic aspects, we recommend reading Herbert’s book. Also reviews Jodorowsky Dun, a film project (even before David Lynch’s 1984 film) involving cult director Alejandro Jodorowsky, Dan O’Bannon (designer of “Alien”) and comic book artist Jean “Moebius”. The film was so ambitious that it was never made, but it ended up being vr very interesting document.
