Surely we’ve all been there: Someone sends an important message (like the location, price, and time of a Christmas dinner reservation with friends), only to have it fade away as time passes and the messages pile on. to have forgotten. Normally it’s search engine, boosted posts or the classic “can someone send me this?” We used to resort to the question, but with the new WhatsApp, this situation is over. Finally, fixed messages are coming.

What are pinned messages?. These are nothing more than messages (of any kind) that remain static at the top of the screen. This way, important messages (or whatever we want) will not be lost in the endless river of messages reaching the group and will always be visible. You can pin text messages, polls, images, anything.

How do they work?. To pin a message, simply press and hold the message and select “Pin” from the menu that appears. Although the message remains for seven days by default, we can configure it to remain for 24 hours, seven or 30 days. For now, it doesn’t look like it can stay stable forever.

What about in groups? Messages can also be sent to groups. In fact, in group chats, admins have the option to choose whether all members or only admins can pin messages. This makes perfect sense for large groups (something WhatsApp focuses heavily on). Hopefully at some point the pinned messages will also reach the channels.

Distribution begins. Like all WhatsApp news, pinned messages have started to be published, but it will probably take some time to reach all users. In any case, it never hurts to make sure we keep the app updated.
