Canada will buy and send 20,000 155mm artillery shells to Ukraine. This was announced by Canadian Minister of National Defense Anita Anand. Defense Minister Anita Anand announced that the Canadian government will spend approximately $100 million to purchase 155mm NATO-standard ammunition in the United States.

Anand says these are the ammunition that the Ukrainian government has requested from its allies. According to him, these are standard NATO artillery caliber shells and compatible with artillery weapons supplied to Ukraine by Canada and other countries.

“Canada and Ukraine are more than close partners. We are family,” Ms. Anand said during a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Victoria, British Columbia.

In April, Canada dispatched Ukrainian M777 howitzers, which are part of more than $130 million in military equipment donated by Canada after Russia launched an unprovoked attack on Ukraine in February.

Recently, Canadian soldiers have taught Ukrainians how to use large-caliber weapons outside of Ukraine, in a country that Ottawa does not name for security reasons. The new munitions cost $98 million of the $500 million military aid provided by Canada to Ukraine. He added that Ottawa is currently expediting deliveries of what is needed to Ukraine.

It will be recalled that in April it became known that Ukraine will receive high-precision long-range Excalibur shells for 155-mm howitzers from Canada. In addition, the Defense Forces of Ukraine recently received from Canada new armored vehicles “Senator Armored Personnel Carrier”. Source
