We have plenty of note-taking apps on Android, but none are as popular as Google’s. we refer to Google Keepis currently preparing to get its dose of artificial intelligence, right after adopting text formatting.
However, the search giant continues to implement new functions to meet the needs of its users. As we read on Android Authority, Keep could be our default notes appbecause he is prepared for it. With this behavior, you will get better integration with the operating system and leave us with some new features that we will discuss below.
Keep the levels high by integrating into Android 14
First of all, private media reveals that Google Keep is also making preparations. pen holder, ahead of the launch of the Google digital pen that will be paired with the Pixel Tablet. But that’s not what’s important, it’s the upcoming change regarding one of the new features of Android 14.

The latest version of the operating system of the American company added shortcuts, or rather customization, to the lock screen. We have two quick accesses in the right and left corners of the lock screen. As we said these can be customized, while access is still privateThe ‘Note Taking’ one.
For this button to work, we need to tell the system: What is the default app for notesand to be selected you must meet two conditions:
It should be developed with. Android 14 API.
On the other hand, you should add: to try (object used to request an action from another component of an application) that the system sends to the ‘default notes application’.
By following these two sections, it can be added as a quick access to the lock screen, and Google Keep already does this. new version 5.23.482.04. Therefore, when it arrives, we can select it by going to Applications > Default Applications from Settings. It is worth noting that this option will not appear unless we force it from the developer options.
Now essentially what this change brings two benefits Keep to Clear: On the one hand, the above-mentioned shortcut that will allow us to quickly take notes when we need them. In fact, you will not need to unlock the mobile phone. On the other hand, it gives you access to a new API that allows the user to take a screenshot of the open window and add it to the note.
This change paves the way for Keep to be an exception, because as a general rule, applications do not allow screenshots of the entire window for privacy reasons. Through this API, the system interface receives the capture on behalf of the notes application to allow this and give us the result, possibility to edit it.
Of course, it is not yet possible to add Google Keep as the default application, because when you activate the option it will tell us that it needs to be updated (without an update). Therefore, we will have to wait for the completion of the development of these functions and then Update via Play Store.
For now we’ll continue to wait for this update to get more out of Keep and so Android 14 possibilities. According to information, it won’t be long in coming, although it’s rare to see it in action before the beginning of next year.
