After Microsoft Defender, Avira also causes delays under Windows

According to several online reports, the latest update to Avira antivirus software would cause Windows to freeze on startup. Avira recently achieved a top spot in the rankings of the most powerful malware protection.

Just a few days ago it was announced that Microsoft Defender, the antivirus system in Windows, was slowing down Microsoft. Now the next problem arises with a third-party antivirus solution, namely Avira. Although Avira was among the top performing malware protection providers in recent rankings, several reports online suggest that a recent Avira update caused the entire system to freeze.

Avira freezes Windows

The problem just started this weekend. Multiple online reports show that the recent Avira update is causing a system-wide freeze. This event appears to occur on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Although the system responds immediately when starting and opening Windows, it goes wrong and stops responding as soon as the Avira application loads. Many users were able to solve the problem by uninstalling Avira.

You don’t have to worry about malware protection. Microsoft Defender takes over when Windows detects that no antivirus program is activated. Defender is more than sufficient in many cases. And if you are still having problems with Microsoft Defender, simply reinstalling this software would be the solution.

High in the best malware protection rankings

Many users were able to solve the problem by uninstalling Avira, after which it was discovered that it was also related to this antivirus software. The company itself has not yet been able to find a cause, also because the problem only occurred this weekend.

Avira recently came home with a good report. A few days ago, test results were shared by AV-Comparitives, which regularly examines antivirus suites for Windows. Avira emerged as one of the best in its class. So if you want to switch to another antivirus software immediately, you can take these results into account.
