Ubiquiti launches the UniFi Pro Max 24 PoE: an Ethernet switch equipped with an eye-catching new technology: Etherlighting. This function sheds light on cable management.

Ubiquiti launches a glowing switch: the UniFi Pro Max 24 PoE. The name of the thing already reveals the necessary basic functionality: The switch has 24 ports, eight of which support 2.5 GbE. The other sixteen are regular GbE ports. Eight of them are compatible with PoE+, the other GbE ports and all 2.5 GbE ports are equipped with PoE++. They deliver up to 60 watts per cable. The switch can deliver a total of 400 watts of power. Finally we see two 10G SFP+ ports.

The manufacturer places LED lights behind the RJ45 ports so that they can light up in different colors. The lamps cover the entire RGB spectrum. The intention is not to turn your switch into a Christmas tree, but to bring light into the darkness.

After all, cable management can be hell. If you don’t label your connections correctly, you’ll quickly get lost in the cable forest. You can use the LEDs to make the ports light up in different colors so that you can see which cable is connected when connecting. Essentially, you can label your connections with the color of the switch ports. It is also possible to group ports or highlight specific device types.

The switch is now available for 739 euros without VAT. Ubiquiti will also sell Etherlighting patch cables, which feature a clear RJ45 connector that increases the effectiveness of the LEDs.
