GIGABYTE received feedback from users about unexpected behavior and problems when using memory modules of certain brands, problems that were evident when using GCC (GIGABYTE Control Center), the brand’s management application. In response, the company quickly launched an in-depth investigation to identify the cause of the problem and therefore was able to provide a solution to affected users.

As a result, GIGABYTE found out some DDR modules did not meet JEDEC specifications, causing the SPD write protection to fail. Once the investigation was complete, the technology company released BIOS updates that enable motherboard SPD write protection. therefore consider the problem solved. In addition, and to avoid similar problems in the future, GIGABYTE has also implemented new safeguards in GCC, aimed at optimizing the SPD information acquisition process and strengthening SPD protection.
