The news that worries Xiaomi smartphone owners. The company came up with the idea of ​​banning the installation of Android apps via APK files. He even introduced and commented on his own Android collection where this feature is missing:

It is forbidden to import data from APK in our new version of Android project. APKs may contain some proprietary (third party) resources, so we should not allow users to install them.

That is, the manufacturer plans to leave the only way to install applications on their smartphones from the official Google Play store.

Google’s developers and representatives have already commented on the innovations. They believe that Xiaomi’s argument is not very convincing, since Android checks APK files before installation, so this installation method is not particularly dangerous.

From this we can conclude that Google does not support the initiative of the Chinese, and owners of smartphones from other brands should not worry about banning installing programs via APK. But there are fears that Xiaomi will want to implement this innovation in MIUI firmware. But time will tell.
