Specialists of the company “Kyivstar” have included access to mobile Internet throughout the territory controlled by Ukraine.
The company’s press service informed Ukrinform about this.
“On December 15, the company’s specialists made it possible to access mobile Internet throughout the territory controlled by Ukraine. The service works in all communication standards, including 4G. The service may operate at a lower speed, but its quality will increase as the network stabilizes,” reads the message.
It is also noted that international roaming services were restored in the past day, and even earlier, voice and fixed Internet services were restored.
“More than 95 percent of mobile communication base stations in the region controlled by Ukraine are operational. The company will provide information about the 100% operational efficiency of the services after the completion of all stabilization measures,” the message states.
The company is currently working to launch SMS services and restore access to the My Kyivstar system. At the same time, short-term communication difficulties may still occur in some regions, and the company’s specialists promptly eliminate them.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of December 12, Kyivstar became the target of a powerful hacker attack that caused a technical malfunction. Communication and internet access services became unusable.
The company assured that subscribers’ personal data will not be compromised. They also promised compensation to subscribers who did not have a connection or could not use the operator’s services.
The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the cyber attack on Kyivstar. One of the versions of the investigation involved the participation of Russian special services.
It was learned that Solntsepek, one of the so-called hacker groups of the Russian Federation, claimed responsibility for the attack on Kievstar on December 13.
The cyber attack on Kyivstar in the Verkhovna Rada was called one of the most powerful attacks in Europe in the history of all communications operators.
