Canadian authorities have raised six death toll in the country resulting from a salmonella outbreak linked to two brands of melons from Mexico.
The Public Health Agency of Canada (ASPC) noted in a statement that consuming melons contaminated with bacteria also forced 53 people to be hospitalized across the country.
In total, Canadian health authorities 153 cases of salmonellosis were registered.mainly in people under 5 years of age or over 65 years of age.
“According to research, consumption Melons of the brand “Malicita and Rudi” has been identified as the probable cause of the outbreak. “Many of those affected reported having consumed melon before becoming ill,” the ASPC said in a statement.
