Sky News reports this, as Ukrinform reports.
The SaxaVord spaceport on the small island of Anst has received a license from the Civil Aviation Authority that will allow the first rocket launches in 2024.
The regulator confirmed that the private spaceport meets safety and environmental requirements for vertical space launches.
SaxaVord is said to be licensed for 30 launches each year and will serve companies looking to launch satellites into polar and sun-synchronous orbits.
The spaceport, which includes three launch pads and a hangar for assembling rockets, cost just under £30 million to build.
Two German companies, Rocket Factory Augsburg and HyImpulse, hope to make their first launches of SaxaVord as early as 2024.
Husband and wife Frank and Debbie Strong have owned the former Royal Air Force base, now a spaceport, on the Anst Peninsula since 2004.
As reported by Ukrinform, rocket manufacturer Orbex will build and operate a spaceport on the A Moine peninsula in northwestern Scotland.
