Under the “Villages of Tomorrow” project, launched in collaboration with Trendyol, one of Turkey’s leading e-commerce platforms and one of the world’s leading e-commerce platforms, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the first digital center opened in Adana Kürkçüler village. The ‘Villages of Tomorrow’ project, which started in the first phase with three pilot villages in Adana, Diyarbakır and Izmir provinces, aims to reach a total of 10 villages and more than 1 million people in five years. It is predicted that the number of new e-commerce entrepreneurs in the pilot provinces will increase by 60 percent once the project is completed. Under Tomorrow’s Villages, digital centers will be opened in Diyarbakır Bağıvar and İzmir Ulamış by the end of the first phase of the project. Hatay was also involved in the project after the earthquake disaster in February. Work continues on the Fourth Village of Tomorrow Digital Center in Hatay.
ACCELERATION OF INCLUSIVE GROWTH IS PLANNED
The Villages of Tomorrow project aims to increase employment by providing technological opportunities to villages, strengthening production and supporting rural development by preserving cultural values. In the digital centers that will be established in the villages, extensive studies will be carried out with the participation of children, youth, women and disabled people, to brand Anatolia’s local products. This creates an opportunity for locally grown produce, crafts and handmade products to meet consumers straight from the village.

The project also aims to strengthen digital value chains in rural areas and accelerate inclusive growth by developing e-commerce capabilities and skills for local agricultural, textile and craft products.
Villages of Tomorrow opens villages to the world with e-commerce and e-export, supports a sustainable and technology-based production culture with smart farming models and smart farming practices, and prepares children for the digital world with coding and robotics workshops.
The partially vacant building of Sarıçam Municipality, the local partner of the project, was redesigned as Kürkçüler Digital Center. The center features two training halls, a technology workshop with state-of-the-art equipment, communal work areas consisting of open and closed areas, children’s playgrounds and a digital farming demonstration area. The center also has well-equipped computers, a 3D printer and a photo shooting room.
