As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by the company’s press service on Facebook.
“A small update on the operation of the network: access to SMS services, including roaming, has been restored; voice communication and mobile data transmission are available; We are starting to restore access to M2M for corporate customers,” the message reads.
The company added that “Kyivstar TV” is working and providing free access to the platform while the elimination of the consequences of the cyber attack continues. The press service clarified this point even for unauthorized users.
Restoration work is being done in stages due to safety requirements. At the same time, local difficulties with access to the “Home Internet” still arise in some settlements. Kyivstar team is working to resolve this issue.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of December 12, the operator “Kyivstar” became the target of a powerful hacker attack, which led to a technical malfunction. Communication and internet access services became unusable.
The company assured that subscribers’ personal data will not be compromised. They also promised compensation to subscribers who did not have a connection or could not use the operator’s services.
The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the cyber attack on Kievstar. One of the versions of the investigation involved the participation of Russian special services.
It was learned that Solntsepek, one of the so-called hacker groups of the Russian Federation, claimed responsibility for the attack on Kievstar on December 13.
“Kyivstar” announced on December 14 that the network’s work had stabilized; More than 90% of mobile communications base stations in the Ukrainian-controlled region are operational.
