With the launch of the new Intel Core Ultra chips last week, Acer, Asus, MSI, Samsung and Lenovo have launched several new models. In each case it was about Windows 11 PCs, as these can make optimal use of the new AI capabilities of the Intel Core Ultra chips.
Today Asus is showing the first Chromebook that has the latest Intel chip on board. The Asus ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus is a business model called Chromebook Plus. This guarantees Google-certified performance at the highest level.
The Asus ExpertBook CX54 has an Intel Core Ultra 7 on board, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The 14-inch screen (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) has a 16:10 aspect ratio, supports brightness of up to 500 nits and has a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.
The Chromebook is 17 mm thin and weighs 1.3 kg. The 8MP webcam can track the speaker to keep it sharply centered during Full HD video calls. The Asus ExpertBook CX54 can be configured with Chrome Enterprise.
Ports available on the Chromebook: 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 2x USB-A (USB 3.2), 1x HDMI (v2.1) and 1x MicroSD card slot. You can connect up to three external 4K displays. The fingerprint sensor in the laptop is supported by the Google Titan 2 security chip.
It is currently unclear whether and when the Asus ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus will come to Europe and especially the Benelux countries. A suggested retail price has not yet been announced.
