The couple went from the North Pole to the South Pole in an electric car

Scottish couple Chris and Julie Ramsey traveled more than 27,000 kilometers from the North Pole to the South Pole in their Nissan electric car.

This was reported by Engadget, according to Ukrinform’s report.

It was noted that the journey lasted 10 months and ended on December 15, but this was reported only after satellite communications were restored.

The journey was made in a Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE electric car modified by Icelandic company Arctic Trucks.

To charge the electric car, the couple used either a 5 kW wind turbine or a prototype solar hybrid charger, depending on the weather. Sometimes it was necessary to use a gasoline generator, which was mandatory equipment for traveling in the Arctic regions.

As reported by Ukrinform, Japanese company Isuzu Motors is testing a system that uses a “robotic arm” to remove used batteries in electric trucks and replace them with fully charged batteries.
