Blue Origin successfully launched its New Shepard suborbital spacecraft after more than a year of disruption due to a previous failed launch. The launch took place at 11:41 from the spaceport in the city of Van Horn (Texas) on the east coast of the USA. The NS-24 mission carried 33 cargoes for scientific and research purposes.
The previous launch of New Shepard took place in September 2022 and was unsuccessful due to technical problems with the launch vehicle, which led to early separation of the cargo capsule.
The capsule then successfully landed on Earth using a parachute, preserving scientific equipment from NASA and private companies. In September 2023, the FAA completed its investigation and ordered Blue Origin to make more than 20 improvements to the vehicle’s design.
