NASA Ingenuity helicopter covered the longest distance in the last 20 months as part of its 68th flight on the Red Planet.
As reported by Ukrinform, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on its own page on the Kh social network.
“The Mars helicopter completed its 68th flight over the weekend, flying approximately 705 meters in 135 seconds,” JPL said. said.
The laboratory added that this was the longest distance Ingenuity had flown since its 25th mission to the Red Planet.
According to the Ingenuity rotorcraft’s logbook, its 25th flight took place last April 8.
As Ukrinform reported, the Ingenuity helicopter was delivered to the Red Planet along with NASA’s Perseverance rover on February 18, 2021. Ingenuity made its first flight on April 19. The $85 million helicopter became the first aircraft launched to another planet.
