The Ukrainian Air Force can receive attack aircraft from countries that help resist Russian aggression. This was reported by journalist Jack Detsch in the American magazine Foreign Policy. This was written by a journalist after visiting the “great nerve center” in Europe, which operates to deliver military aid to Ukraine from different countries.
We are talking about not only Su-25 attack aircraft, but also multi-purpose transport helicopters Mi-17.
“In Eastern Europe, a field team of the European Command assisted in the dismantling of Soviet Su-25 aircraft and Mi-17 helicopters so that they could be sent to Ukraine,” said reporter Jack Detch.
The journalist did not give any details about the time and number of transferred planes. All this information regarding equipment and weapons transfer is kept confidential. On May 16, it became known that three Mi-17 helicopters from the United States were transferred to Ukraine and engaged in combat missions. At that time it was emphasized that it was an aircraft from the Soviet era.
It will be recalled that on April 13, the United States announced an $800 million aid package to Ukraine, which included 11 Soviet-era Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters. At the same time, the United States confirmed its intention to deliver helicopters to Ukraine, even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
It was about planes belonging to the Afghan Air Force. At that time, it was noted that in the framework of American military assistance, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should receive six Mi-17-B5 and Mi-8MTV transport helicopters. Poland also delivered to Ukraine almost all spare parts and ammunition for MiG-29 fighters. Thanks to this, Ukraine has the opportunity to restore its combat capabilities. Source
