Volvo Cars will use more than 1,300 industrial robots from ABB to produce next-generation electric cars.

As reported by Ukrinform, The Robot Report reports on this issue.

Volvo will use ABB’s new IRB 6710, 6720 and 6730 industrial robots for a variety of tasks, including spot welding and more.

The robots will be used at Volvo’s facilities in Torsland (Sweden) and Daqing (China).

The robots are said to be part of ABB’s new range of modular industrial machines that allow users to easily change the size and spacing of each model.

Additionally, these robots are suitable for handling payloads from 150 kg to 310 kg with a movement radius of 2.5 to 3.2 metres.

The first deployment of these robots will occur in early 2024.

“The next commitment from our partner Volvo Cars demonstrates our shared focus on delivering more ecological production. Thanks to our large family of new, energy-efficient robots, we will help businesses around the world save up to 20% on energy,” said ABB President Mark Segura.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Tesla company has introduced its second-generation humanoid Optimus robot, which is expected to perform some tasks usually performed by humans.
