Foreclosure

Salesforce announces plans to acquire Spiff, a compensation platform for revenue and sales organizations that automates complex commission processes.

The deal to acquire Spiff is expected to close in the first months of 2024. This deal is the latest in a series of ecosystem companies that Salesforce has brought into the fold, such as its acquisition of Airkit earlier this year. Spiff offers one Low code Platform designed to help companies manage Incentives. This interface is used by Salesforce in its Sales Performance Management software.

Low-code platform

Spiff has developed management software Incentives. This platform can increase sales in an intuitive way Low code User interface and a strong processing machine to optimize commission automation on a large scale. This tool would be used by Salesforce in its Sales Performance Management software, a CRM-linked system that connects data from customers and sales teams.

Spiff has been working with Salesforce for a long time. The company has received investments from Salesforce for its Series B and C rounds in recent years. In addition, Spiff has been available on the Salesforce AppExchange for several years. It has long been clear that Salesforce is interested in start-ups from its own ecosystem.

Not the first takeover

In September, Salesforce acquired Airkit, a low-code platform for building AI customer service agents. Like Spiff, Airkit was part of the AppExchange and received investment from Salesforce.

So Salesforce is clearly targeting proven ecosystem companies and sees them as a safe bet for M&A with a focus on low-code platforms.
