Fortinet introduces Fortinet Advisor. This is a generative AI assistant designed to initially help SecOps teams deal with incidents. The assistant behaves like a variant of ChatGPT, but has significantly more specialist knowledge. Experts can ask the advisor detailed questions about incidents, attack techniques and possible solutions and receive an answer in seconds. Fortinet highlights the following features:

• Interpretation of security incidents: Fortinet Advisor can quickly analyze alerts and summarize them into understandable reports, including relevant context and potential impact.
• Complex research: AI helps analysts generate useful queries as part of their research. An analyst can tell Fortinet Advisor what insights he or she is looking for in human language, and the tool generates accurate queries with correct syntax.
• Remedial plans: If something goes wrong, the assistant can immediately offer solutions based on real-time data.
• Game books: Security architects can use Fortinet Advisor to create concrete incident playbooks and quickly transform processes into actionable plans.

Fortinet notes that Fortinet Advisor is constantly updated with the latest threat information, so answers are always up to date. The “Security GPT” is now included in FortiSIEM and FortiSOAR.

AI and genetic AI

The solution complements the more than forty other products in Fortinet’s portfolio. They play well together, exchanging information that is analyzed at both a macro level on Fortinet and a micro level on a customer’s device. Fortinet has long used machine learning and AI to discover new threats, but Fortinet Advisor is the first tool to integrate generative AI.
