The Saetta can traverse rough terrain inaccessible to wheeled or tracked vehicles and can climb and descend stairs, open doors and move obstacles in its path, including unexploded ordnance.

The robot can also map locations, detect the presence of threats, and identify traces of explosives and chemicals using advanced laser and thermal imaging sensors.
Saetta will provide additional security to the Carabinieri during the 2025 Jubilee Year, when millions of pilgrims and visitors are expected to come to Rome.
