In unrecognized Transnistria, there is less talk of “rising tensions” with Ukraine. The self-proclaimed “PMR” officials downgraded the terrorist threat level from “red” to “yellow”. This was announced by the head of the press center for the security and defense forces of the “Southern” Operational Command Natalia Humeniuk. She noted that after the active dissemination of information about the aggravation of the situation and the opening of an additional front in Ukraine by Transnistria, they realized that the provocations did not work.
“In particular, the enemy forces and propaganda forces informed about the aggravation of the situation and the use of Russian forces there in the direction of Ukraine. There was talk of the opening of an additional front or the task of striking from the unrecognized Transnistria lands. These were the classic provocations we’ve known for a long time. It’s a matter of excitement about the conscription offices being set on fire and some of the explosions in the border areas in Transnistria. But the border is guarded securely by us. So they understood that such provocations have no effect on the world community or on the Ukrainians.“, – said Natalia Humeniuk.
We will remind, at the beginning of May there were a number of provocations on the territory of self-proclaimed Transnistria. These were explosions near the airport Tiraspol, as well as the administrative buildings of the unrecognized “TMR”. Moldovan President Maya Sandu said at the time that the provocations were provoked from within. And the leader of the unrecognized territory accused the Ukrainian authorities of “terrorist acts”.
At the same time, the border guards of Ukraine noted an increase in the number of troops on the Transnistria border. At the same time, the Russian military command does not hide its plans to create a land corridor to Transnistria. This was stated by the Deputy Commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnekayev in late April.
Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary Liz Trass said the country was ready to arm Moldova “according to NATO standards” to protect it from Russia.
