“Flour and rice are hard to come by and people have to wait for hours to access toilets and wash themselves. “We are experiencing a level of complexity in this emergency that I have never seen,” he added.

“People are angry, depressed, desperate and scared.”

Saccardi reported that “people are angry, depressed and despairing (…). “They are very afraid.”

Action Against Hunger repeated its call for a permanent ceasefire “as a matter of utmost urgency” so that a “meaningful humanitarian response” can be made if the international community “want to stop people from starving to death.”
