A cyberattack that is not recent, yes, because in fact everything points to it being the same one that resulted in the leak of GTA VI development images in September of last year and the legal consequences of which we recently learned about.

This leak, the one from September 2022, was particularly notable, because it was the clearest preview to that time of GTA VI, for many the most anticipated game of the moment… for years. However, it seems that what was shown next wasn’t the only thing that came out of Rockstar’s servers. And if you think about it, yes, it’s surprising that these new assets came to light just as the person responsible for the cyber attack was convicted.

It is on this point that I would like to point out before I continue. In the past few days, you could have read that the leaker was sentenced to life in a psychiatric institution. But back to the news at hand, as we can read in GTAFocal, In the last few hours GTA V sources have been released on the internet, assets that have been previously identified but not yet publicly available. The leak is around four gigabytes and includes numerous RAGE engine files, concept and reference images, and even the opening map of GTA V San Andreas.

In this temporary moment, This leak isn’t a big deal for Rockstar, as GTA V’s commercial life cycle is already transitioning from autumn to winter. However, fans and modders alike can take advantage of all these benefits, although the latter will have to think twice, as Rockstar has already made its zero tolerance for third-party creations clear in recent times. In my opinion because they have shown (I say modders) that they are capable of doing a better job than Rockstar themselves. But again, this is just my opinion.
