South Korean company Samsung Electronics Co. Taylor has shelved plans to mass produce the chips at its new chip factory in Texas.
This was reported by Bloomberg, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to South Korean media, mass production of chips in the future factory is worth $17 billion. It will start in 2025.
When Samsung previously announced that the factory would invest in 2021, it said that it would start production in the second half of 2024.
A company spokesman said Samsung could not confirm its schedule for mass production of the chips at this time.
Previously, Samsung’s rival was Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. – decided to postpone production at the new facility in Arizona from 2024 to 2025 due to a shortage of experienced construction workers and technicians to install the necessary equipment.
It was stated that any delay in US facilities operated by the world’s two largest contract chip manufacturers, Samsung and TSMC, would hinder US President Joe Biden’s grand plan to increase chip production on American soil to prevent supply disruptions that impose costs on companies in the future, such as shortages in 2021. Hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue were generated.
According to Ukrinform, American technology giant Nvidia informed its customers in China that the start of production of new chips with artificial intelligence, developed taking into account export restrictions to China, has been postponed to the first quarter of next year.
